Region 1 Chapters

★ David Gonser – Region 1 Vice President

Pat and I embarked on our RVing journey in 1976 when we bought our first motorhome, all while still actively working. Over the years, we’ve owned five different motorhomes and joined both the RMMA and FMCA in October 2004. Since 2006, we’ve been dedicated members of the Colorado Columbines Chapter, each of us holding various officer positions.

Our involvement in the RV community has been extensive. We’ve hosted several Chapter Rallies and attended numerous key events, including 13 FMCA International Conventions, 8 RMMA Rallies, 4 RMMA Region 1 Rallies, 4 INTO Area Rallies, 4 Western Area Rallies in Indio, and 1 Northern Lights Chapter Rally in the Great Lakes Area.

Our commitment extends to volunteerism; we’ve volunteered at many RMMA Rallies and FMCA Conventions, often serving as Captain or Co-Captain. My service to RMMA includes roles such as Chairman of the RMMA Nominating Committee, member of an RMMA Audit Committee, and National Director for the Colorado Columbines Chapter. Pat currently serves as Vice President of the Colorado Columbines and has previously held the positions of Chapter Secretary and RMMA Secretary from 2016-2018.

We have been happily married for 58 years, both retired from the Colorado Department of Transportation. Our family includes two adult sons and four wonderful adult grandchildren. We now reside in Larkspur, Colorado.

I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to serve as your RMMA Region 1 Vice President.

David Gonser and his wife Pat

Colorado Columbines

The Colorado Columbines Chapter of FMCA was formed on December 6, 1992 and currently has 33 members. Most of the members live on the Front Range of Colorado between Pueblo and Fort Collins, with one charter member still active in our chapter for the summer months who now resides in Texas. We gather for weekend campouts on the second weekend of each month (May-Sept) and then on the first weekend of October. Food is always plentiful at our campouts; however, we do find time to socialize, play games, go on tours, make crafts, have bonfires, as well as relax. Usually there are 10-15 rigs in attendance and a good time is always had by all. We are a small chapter and are always on the lookout for “fun and friendly” folks to join us. Our yearly dues are only $21.00 per rig and our rally fees are $12.00 per person.

Cuatro Estados

Thank you for your interest in our FMCA Chapter. We have ” The Spirit of Adventure” and enjoy exploring the world around us. ” Cuatro Estados” translates to “Four States,” and most of our monthly rallies are usually held somewhere in the “Four Corners” states of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah, and are usually about a week long. We have a good many full-timers too!
Most of us love exploring the back country and searching out great scenery, historical areas, and “off the grid” locations. Mostly via our tow vehicles (including some 4WD or AWD), but often via great hikes, and sometimes via water (kayaks) or bicycle. We have also held longer “caravan” trips through the “four states” region as well as other parts of the country, such as California and Texas. A few of us have spent most of the winter traveling together around Arizona & southern California, or summer traveling together for longer distance trips, such as Alaska or Newfoundland.

SMOKEY BEAR

SMOKEY BEAR Smokey Bear Chapter encompasses southern New Mexico and western Texas. The original Smokey Bear was saved after a forest fire around Capitan, New Mexico. That area is covered by our chapter. Our chapter was formed in 1975, and we currently have about a 50 coach membership. Our area is blessed with very nice weather year ‘round so we plan monthly rallies to close-by mountains, lakes and/or deserts. We have about 15-25 coaches at each rally. The rallies usually last 3 days with good meals, sight seeing, visiting local attractions and playing games. We publish monthly newsletters, keeping all members informed of chapter happenings. We welcome prospective members as guests at any of our rallies and a rally schedule is available to any prospective members.
